IO Privacy Policy
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how IO collects, uses, and shares information when you use our applications, websites, and related services (the “Service”, "IO"). The Service is operated by IO.OI. Inc..
2. Information Collected
- Account and profile information: username, email address, password (stored as a one-way hash), and optional profile fields such as bio, linked accounts, and phone number.
- Content you provide: posts, comments, messages, profile details, and any other content you submit through IO.
- AI chat content: prompts and messages you submit in AI chat experiences and the AI responses returned to you.
- Usage and device data: log data such as timestamps, pages/screens viewed, feature usage, IP address, device and browser information, approximate location derived from IP address, and diagnostics.
- Cookies and similar technologies (web): cookies, local storage, and similar technologies used for authentication, preferences, and basic functionality.
- Subscription and billing information (if applicable): subscription status, purchase identifiers, and renewal/expiration information from platform providers (for example, Apple, Stripe, or RevenueCat). We do not receive your full payment card details.
- Support communications: information you provide when you contact support or submit a ticket.
- Push notification tokens (mobile): device tokens used to deliver notifications.
Cookies (web): We use cookies and similar technologies for sign-in, security, preferences, and basic functionality. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling cookies may affect features like login and personalized settings.
3. Information Use
- Provide and operate the Service (authentication, content publishing, messaging, personalization, and support).
- Discovery and recommendations (for example, ranking content, surfacing relevant posts and accounts, and showing post previews in AI chat experiences).
- AI features (generating AI chat responses and related functionality).
- Protection (debugging, fraud detection, abuse prevention, and enforcement of our policies).
- Subscriptions (processing purchases, verifying entitlements, and preventing misuse).
- Communications (service announcements, policy updates, and support responses).
- Compliance (legal obligations and protecting rights, safety, and security).
4. Information Sharing
We may share information in the following ways:
- With other users and the public: your posts, comments, and certain profile information may be visible to other users, may be accessible via public pages, and may be indexed by search engines.
- With service providers that help us operate the Service (for example, hosting, database, email delivery, push notification delivery, analytics, payment processing, and AI providers), under contractual obligations.
- For legal reasons, such as to comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect rights, safety, and security.
- In a business transaction, such as a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.
- With your consent, when you choose to share information (for example, linking to an external account).
We do not sell your personal information.
5. AI Processing and Discovery
IO is designed to help users discover relevant posts and accounts based on topics and intent. This may involve automated processing of your inputs (including AI) to generate suggestions, rank content, and surface posts in AI chat experiences.
When you use AI chat features, your prompts and related context may be sent to third-party AI providers to generate responses. Those providers may process that information in accordance with their own policies.
6. Data Retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the Service and for legitimate business and legal purposes. You may be able to delete certain content or your account (subject to applicable law and necessary retention for security and compliance). Deleted information may persist for a limited period in backups.
7. Protection
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information. However, no system is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Choices and Rights
- Access and update certain profile information from within the app.
- Request account deletion where available.
- Control cookies or similar technologies through your browser settings (web).
- Control push notifications in your device settings (mobile).
- Opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link (where provided) or by contacting us. You may still receive service-related messages (for example, security or billing notices).
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (such as access, correction, deletion, portability, or objection). To exercise these rights, contact us. We comply with applicable privacy laws, including Canadian privacy laws (such as PIPEDA) where they apply.
9. International Data Transfers
We may process and store information in countries other than where you live, including in countries that may have different data protection laws. When we transfer information internationally, we take steps designed to provide appropriate safeguards as required by applicable law.
10. Legal Bases (EEA/UK and Similar Regions)
If you are located in the EEA, the UK, Switzerland, or a similar region, we generally process personal information under one or more of the following legal bases: (a) to perform our contract with you (provide the Service), (b) where we have legitimate interests (such as operating, securing, and improving the Service), (c) to comply with legal obligations, and (d) with your consent where required (for example, certain cookies).

11. U.S. State Privacy Rights
If you live in a U.S. state with privacy laws (such as California), you may have rights to request access to, deletion of, or correction of certain personal information, and to opt out of certain data uses where applicable. IO does not sell personal information.

12. Children
The Service is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
13. Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new “Last updated” date.
